The
two places at home where Americans spend
leisure time — the
living room and the family
room — haven’t really changed over
the years. Nearly two-thirds (65%) adults
call the living room their primary place
for home entertainment, with an additional
19% spending most of their leisure
hours in the family room.
But what people do for entertainment in these
rooms indicates some change from last
year. Directionally, there is a small shift
from the living room to the family room
and bedrooms as the primary place to watch TV, videotapes and
DVDs. There is a slight increase in bedroom music listening,
and the den/home office remains the
place where the Internet is most often accessed. Reading tends
to be evenly split between the living room and bedrooms. |
8.
Foundations/Basement Areas –
that show indications of water/moisture
problems should be tended to
immediately. Ditto cracked walls
in the basement. To ignore the
problem will ultimately mean
increasing the cost of the
repair.
9. Security Systems –
alone do not provide all the
safety a household needs. Other
safetywise ideas: proper locks on
windows and doors, dead bolts,
carbon monoxide detectors and
smoke detectors in every
bedroom.
10. Knowledge is Money –
invest in a professional
certified home inspector if you’re
unsure of any of these issues. |
